I’m Nicki, a Bristol-based tutor with over 12 years of experience as a qualified teacher supporting children with diverse needs in specialist settings. In addition to this I am a qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader.

I offer 1:1 tutoring sessions to young people aged six up to adulthood. My sessions are completely bespoke. I build a unique curriculum around each learner, shaped by their interests and requirements — sometimes this is screen-free, sometimes I use digital tools, my sessions are always tailored to what works best for the learner, whether that is in their own home, a quiet public space or outdoors in nature.

As a qualified teacher I can assist EOTAS pupils (pupils who are educated outside of school), I am experienced at creating and maintaining essential legal documents like EHCP’s and IEP’s. I can also work with young people who just need a little extra support in any area, whether that is academic or personal development, social skills, and skills for independent living.

My goal is to help young people reengage with education, build confidence in themselves and develop the skills needed to reach their potential in all areas.

Alongside tutoring, I create resources for families at home who are seeking gentle, screen-free alternatives. These include:

FAQs

As my service is completely bespoke, and I am a specialist tutor my hourly rate reflects my level of experience. Rates are variable depending on the complexity of needs, and the distance I need to travel but vary from £45 to 65 per hour.
There are significant discounts available and also I offer special rates during the getting to know each other period.
The best way to know the specific cost for you would be to have a quick chat or email exchange where we can discuss your needs and budget.
Our consultation call should determine if I am a good fit for your family or not. However, I offer a discounted rate of £35 for our first meeting so we can both get an idea if our personalities and styles of teaching and learning work well.
If you block book the introduction package and decide after the first two sessions that you are not happy to proceed, I will refund the remaining two sessions - no questions asked.

My fees are tiered and structured to reflect the amount of “behind the scenes work” that goes into planning and creating bespoke resources that are specific to each clients needs.
The fee is slightly variable depending on the bespoke learning materials I will provide and the time it takes to make activities that are tailored to the unique interests and passions of your young person. For example if I am engaging a young person in a stop motion animation project this requires software, equipment and a vast amount of resources, so the fee will likely be top tier.
Basic numeracy and literacy tutoring, for example support in accessing Functional Skills exams may be less expensive.
On occasion I may charge a travel surcharge if you are more than 15 miles from my home in central Bristol.
I do offer lower rates as we get to know one another, and block booking discounts for regular pupils.
