Welcome to Whole and Wild Learning
Personalised support for young people in Bristol and beyond
Hello, I’m Nicki, the tutor behind Whole & Wild Learning. I’m a Bristol-based qualified teacher with over 13 years of experience supporting young people with additional needs in specialist settings. Alongside my teaching work, I trained as a Level 3 Forest School Leader with Children of the Forest, which deepened my commitment to child-led, nature-rooted learning.
Even the most specialised settings can’t meet the needs of every child. Whole & Wild Learning exists to fill those gaps with compassion, creativity, and flexibility.
My approach is:
Child-led at the core
I meet each learner exactly where they are. Connection and regulation come first — learning grows from safety, trust, and curiosity.
Inclusive and accessible
I aim to keep my services low-cost where possible and rooted in community connection. Every child deserves support that honours who they are.
Adaptive and responsive
I arrive with a plan, but I always bring the materials — and the mindset — to follow a child’s interests. Sessions flow organically, shaped by the learner’s needs in the moment.
🌿 Informed by experience and understanding
My practice blends:
13 years teaching in specialist settings
Forest School training
Steiner-inspired approaches
Sensory-aware, neurodiversity-affirming methods
Techniques learned from occupational therapists
A deep belief in the power of nature, creativity, and connection
This is the heart of Whole & Wild Learning: gentle, grounded, personalised support that honours the whole child
What I Offer
Bespoke 1:1 Tutoring
For learners aged five through to adulthood. Every session is tailored to the individual — their interests, needs, and preferred ways of learning. This might mean screen-free, nature-based sessions, digital tools, or a blend of both. Click below to learn more about my experience and pricing.
Inclusive After-School Clubs
Small, nurturing groups designed to support social connection, confidence, and curiosity.
I currently run Myth Makers, a literacy adventure club structured around Norse Mythology for young people who love epic adventures but struggle to write.
I also run Wiggly Phonics, a fun active reading club for younger children who need to move to learn. These sessions use embodied learning to embed letter sounds in a way that is less abstract. then just looking at a flashcard! I am also about to launch Wild Words, the outdoor based version of Wiggly Phonics! So watch this space!

FAQs
-
As my service is completely bespoke, and I am a specialist tutor my hourly rate reflects my level of experience. Rates are variable depending on the complexity of needs, and the distance I need to travel but vary from £35 to 60 per hour.
There are significant discounts available and also I offer special rates during the getting to know each other period.
The best way to know the specific cost for you would be to have a quick chat or email exchange where we can discuss your needs and budget.
-
My fees are tiered and structured to reflect the amount of “behind the scenes work” that goes into planning and creating bespoke resources that are specific to each clients needs.
The fee is slightly variable depending on the bespoke learning materials I will provide and the time it takes to make activities that are tailored to the unique interests and passions of your young person.
On occasion I may charge a travel surcharge if you are more than 15 miles from my home in central Bristol.
I do offer lower rates as we get to know one another, and block booking discounts for regular pupils.
I aim to keep things as low cost as possible and offer solidarity pricing for my clubs and home education pods which allows people who can pay more to contribute a little extra to help fund low cost and free scholarship spots at my clubs.
